The Healing Garden was a popular brand of fragrance and bath products that was launched by Coty in 1997. It received the 1997 FiFi award for best environmental fragrance. Coty defined it as, “Holistic fragrances for the mind, body and spirit… a complete line of aromachology scents to help promote a total sense of well-being.”
In 1997, the homepage opened with the following:

The scents that exist in the plants
that grow around us have always had
a positive effect on our lives.
Through the ages, these essences
have been used to enhance our moods,
memories, dreams and desires.A view through the keyhole
Every day, we discover more about
their purpose and potential. Which
allows us to share with you our fragrant
suggestions for these modern times.
In 1998, it was changed to;
A location. A destination. A state of mind.
Where leaves, fruits and flowersinspire holistic scents that enhance
the mind, body and spirit.

By 1998, the brand featured six scent lines, each with a specific purpose:
- lavendertherapy (relaxation)
- jasminetherapy (sensuality)
- tangerinetherapy (energizing)
- greenteatherapy (enlightenment)
- cold comforttherapy (comforting)
- mintherapy for feet (soothing)
In 1999, two additional lines were introduced: gingerlily therapy and the kids garden. The following year, junipertherapy (clarity) was added, followed by zzztherapy at the end of 2000. Finally, in 2001, the brand expanded further with zzztherapy for baby, cucumber therapy, and the waters fragrance line.

In 2000, The Healing Garden was sold at selected Sears, Wal-Mart (now known as Walmart), K-Mart (now Kmart!), Target, Eckerd, Rite-Aid, Kohl’s, Caldor, Long’s, Drug Emporium, Fred Meyers and Walgreen’s. The “h” in -theraphy was a Healing Garden signature. I try to resist the urge to pronounce it lavendertherafy in my head. The established grammar conventions of the brand also excluded apostrophes.
In 2007, Ascendia acquired the brand along with Calgon from Coty, adding two nationally advertised names to Ascendia’s portfolio. The sale followed Coty’s strategy to focus on global brands, particularly in fragrance and color cosmetics. Coty’s portfolio had grown, with Rimmel being one of its fastest-growing brands, leading to a shift in resources toward their fragrance and cosmetics businesses. Ascendia focused on revitalizing The Healing Garden.
By 2008, The Healing Garden had 8 fragrances in its Botanical Collection:
- Passionate Rose
- Relaxing Chamomile
- Calming Lavender
- Revitalizing Green Tea
- Soothing White Tea
- Uplifting Jasmine

The Botanical Collection was described as such:

Then in 2008, Ascendia filed for bankruptcy and Ilex Consumer Products Group, Inc. assumed both Calgon and The Healing Garden.
For the next few years, the homepage said that it was under construction. Shoppers were directed to either call them or shop at calgonstore.com. Ilex sold the brands to Yellow Wood Partners in 2013.
Eventually, The Healing Garden products were discontinued altogether.
