This vintage perfume comes in a stunning glass splash bottle. The back of the bottle says, “Avon 90th Anniversary Keepsake”. This was produced in 1976; the California Perfume Co. was founded in 1886.

When David H. McConnell founded the California Perfume Company in 1886, he brought two indispensable assets to his tiny venture: expertise in business and sales, and the talents of a former employee, Mrs. P.F.E. Albee of Winchester, New Hampshire. Into her hands, he placed his first sample case of fragrances, and the responsibility for hiring and supervising a sales force. Mrs. Albee earned the honorary title “Mother of the California Perfume Co.” for putting into practical operation the system of distributing cosmetics which helped make the company, named Avon Products Inc. in 1939, world famous.
